How to Build a Website with Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
To build a website with Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, connect Statpio to your assistant once (it takes about two minutes), then describe your business in a chat. The assistant asks for what it needs, builds the pages, publishes them at your free onstatpio.com address and checks the result. Contact forms, visitor statistics and your own photos all work without any code.
What do I need?
- A Statpio account. The Free Forever plan includes publishing, and you can create the account during the connect step.
- Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.
- The Statpio connector address:
https://statpio.com/api/mcp(also on the Build with AI card in your Statpio dashboard).
How do I connect Statpio to Claude?
- In Claude, open Customize > Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://statpio.com/api/mcpand choose Add. If Claude asks how to sign in, choose Register automatically. - Choose Connect. A Statpio page opens: sign in (or create your account) and choose Approve Access.
- In a chat, open + > Connectors and check that Statpio is switched on.
Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free.
How do I connect Statpio to ChatGPT?
- In ChatGPT, open Plugins, choose + and then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it Statpio, paste
https://statpio.com/api/mcp, choose OAuth for sign-in, and choose Create as a plugin. - Approve on the Statpio page that opens.
- In a chat, type @ and pick Statpio.
ChatGPT changes these menus from time to time, and whether you can add a custom MCP server depends on your ChatGPT plan and region.
How do I connect Statpio to Cursor?
- In your Statpio dashboard, open the Build with AI card, choose Cursor and press Add to Cursor.
- In Cursor's MCP settings, choose Connect next to Statpio and approve on the Statpio page.
To add it by hand instead, put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"statpio": { "url": "https://statpio.com/api/mcp" }
}
}
What should I ask for?
Start with who the website is for, for example: "Build a website for Harbor Bakery, a family bakery in Bristol." The assistant asks for the details it needs (what you offer, opening hours or service area, contact details, colours) and then publishes the site. Give it your real details: Statpio tells the assistant never to invent phone numbers, prices or reviews.
For a small business it can start from one of Statpio's templates (local business, services, portfolio or launch page) and fills in your texts, which gives you a fast, phone-friendly site with a contact form in one step. It can also write the pages from scratch if you describe a different layout.

Can it use my own photos?
Yes. Ask for a photo upload link: the assistant creates a private Statpio page that you open on your phone or computer. Add your photos with a short caption each (the caption also becomes the photo's description for search engines and screen readers), then tell the assistant you're done and it puts them on the site. The link stays open for a day, and anyone who has it can add photos while it's open, so only share it with people you trust.
How do forms and leads work?
Contact and sign-up forms need no backend: Statpio captures every submission, and you see them in the website's Forms inbox in Statpio, where you can also export them to CSV. You can ask the assistant too, for example "How many leads did my website get this month?". The Free Forever plan includes 250 form submissions a month; Solo Pro includes 10,000 and Agency Pro 100,000.
Can I change the website later?
Ask in plain words, such as "add an opening hours section" or "make the headline shorter". The assistant reads the live pages and sends only the files it changes; everything else stays as it is. If you don't like a change, say "undo that" and the previous version goes live again. Ask it to check the website and it runs Statpio's check for broken links, missing page titles and descriptions, the phone view, and forms Statpio can't capture, then fixes what it finds.
Which plan does each part need?
| What the assistant can do | Statpio plan |
|---|---|
| Create and publish websites, use templates and your photos, change pages, undo, check the website | Every plan, including Free Forever |
| Capture form submissions and read them back | Every plan (monthly limit by plan) |
| Visitor statistics | Basic on Free Forever; full statistics on Solo Pro and Agency Pro |
| Password-protect the website | Every plan |
| Write posts on the website's blog | Solo Pro and Agency Pro |
| Your own domain (connected in Statpio, not by the assistant) | Solo Pro and Agency Pro |

Is it safe to connect?
You approve on a Statpio page what the assistant may do: read your websites, create and publish websites, read form submissions, read visitor statistics, and write blog posts or change settings such as password protection. It never sees your Statpio password, and it can't delete websites or your account, change your plan or billing, or manage domains. Every publish goes through your plan's limits and Statpio's content checks, exactly like a publish from the dashboard, and earlier versions are kept for rollback. You can remove the connection at any time in your assistant's settings.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan?
Not for Claude: custom connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free, which allows one custom connector. For ChatGPT, whether you can add a custom MCP server depends on your plan and region. Cursor works with its built-in MCP support.
What does Statpio cost for this?
Nothing to start: the Free Forever plan includes publishing on a free onstatpio.com address, form capture and basic visitor statistics. Your own domain, full statistics and the blog need Solo Pro ($9 a month) or Agency Pro.
Can the assistant see my Statpio password?
No. You sign in on Statpio's own page, and the assistant only gets a connection with the permissions you approved. It can't change your plan or billing, manage domains, or delete websites or your account, and you can remove the connection at any time in your assistant's settings.
What if I don't like a change?
Ask the assistant to undo it and the previous version goes live again. Statpio keeps your recent versions (5 on Free Forever, 20 on Solo Pro, 50 on Agency Pro), and you can also roll back from the website's Deployments page in Statpio.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, on Solo Pro and Agency Pro: connect it in Statpio from the website's Domains page. The assistant publishes the files; it doesn't manage domains.
