Netlify Alternatives for Static Sites in 2026: 5 Compared

The best Netlify alternatives for static sites in 2026 are Cloudflare Pages (free, with unlimited static requests), Vercel (best for Next.js, but its free Hobby plan is non-commercial), GitHub Pages (free for public repositories, not for running a business), Render (free static sites with 5 GB of bandwidth on Hobby) and Statpio (flat-priced static hosting with built-in forms and a white-label client portal). Netlify isn't short on features; the bigger catch is credits: Netlify Free has a hard limit of 300 credits a month, and when they run out every site on the account is paused.
Disclosure: this guide is published by Statpio, one of the tools compared. We link every competitor fact to its official source. Every price and limit below was checked on the vendor's official page on 10 October 2026.
Why do people look for a Netlify alternative in 2026?
Forms and analytics are no longer good reasons. On Netlify's current credit-based plans, form submissions are free and unlimited, web analytics and real user monitoring are included on every credit plan, and since the 14 April 2026 pricing update Pro includes unlimited team members for $20 a month (as of October 2026). If those were your reasons to switch, you may not need to.
The reasons that still hold up are mostly about how Netlify meters usage and what its lower plans leave out:
- The Free plan stops at 300 credits. Free includes 300 credits a month as a hard limit, and you can't buy more. Netlify's docs say that once the balance is used up, "all of your web projects (sites/apps) are paused" and visitors see a "Site not available" page (How credits work).
- Deploys and traffic share one balance. A production deploy costs 15 credits, bandwidth costs 20 credits per GB and web requests cost 2 credits per 10,000 (How credits work). So 300 credits cover about 20 production deploys or about 15 GB of bandwidth, not both. Deploy Previews, branch deploys, failed deploys and rollbacks are free. The April 2026 update doubled the bandwidth rate from 10 to 20 credits per GB.
- Paid plans are still metered. Personal is $9 a month for 1,000 credits and Pro is $20 a month for 3,000. Extra credits come as auto-recharge packs (500 for $5 on Personal, 1,500 for $10 on Pro), which are off by default (Netlify pricing, How credits work). That works for many sites, but the bill depends on deploys and traffic, which is hard to quote to a client up front.
- Password protection is Pro only. Site passwords and basic-auth headers aren't available on Free or Personal (credit-based plans). Freelancers who send clients password-protected previews need Pro.
- There's no client-branded hand-off. Netlify's pricing page lists no white-label or client portal, so a client who logs in to see form submissions or traffic sees Netlify, not your agency.
- Data retention is short on lower plans. Analytics cover the current or past day on Free and the past 24 hours on Personal. Thirty days needs Pro (credit-based plans).
What does Netlify still do well?
Its forms are free and unlimited on credit plans and can notify you by email, Slack or webhook. Netlify Drop publishes a dragged folder or ZIP with "no Git repository" and no account needed, which suits sites built with AI tools. Deploy Previews are free, serverless functions are included on every plan, and Netlify's own Free-plan announcement says you can deploy commercial projects on it. Two of the alternatives below don't allow that on their free plans.
How do the Netlify alternatives compare?
| Host | Free plan | Main free-plan limit | Cheapest paid plan | Built-in forms | Built-in analytics | Password protection | White-label client portal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Is Cloudflare Pages a good Netlify alternative?
Yes, if you want free hosting that doesn't charge for requests to static files. As of October 2026, Cloudflare says that "on both free and paid plans, requests to static assets are free and unlimited" (Pages Functions pricing). The Free plan allows 500 builds a month, one build at a time, up to 20,000 files per site, 25 MiB per file, 100 custom domains per project and 100 projects per account, and any number of users can manage a site (Pages limits). Paid Cloudflare plans raise the build and file limits.
Two details matter if you're coming from Netlify. Cloudflare Pages reads a plain-text _redirects file from your build output (up to 2,000 static and 100 dynamic redirects), so your Netlify redirect rules have a direct home; check each one against Cloudflare's redirect syntax. And Cloudflare's own Pages documentation now says "Start new projects with Workers", which shows where Cloudflare is steering new projects.
Pros
- Requests to static files are free and unlimited on every plan.
- Free Web Analytics with one-click setup for Pages projects. Cloudflare says it uses no cookies or
localStorage. - Deploy from Git or by uploading a prebuilt folder.
Cons
- No built-in forms. Cloudflare's forms tutorial has you write a Pages Function, and Function requests count toward your Workers plan quota.
- The built-in access policy protects preview deployments only, not your
*.pages.devor custom domain. - No client-branded portal. Anyone who manages the site uses the Cloudflare dashboard.
Best for: developers who want free static hosting with no traffic limit and are comfortable writing a small Function, or using a form service, for forms.
Is Vercel a good Netlify alternative for static sites?
Yes if you're building with Next.js, or if you're ready to pay. Vercel maintains Next.js and supports its server features (server-side rendering, incremental static regeneration and React Server Components) natively. As of October 2026 the free Hobby plan includes 100 GB of Fast Data Transfer, 1,000,000 CDN requests, 100 deployments a day and 50 domains per project (Hobby plan). There's no overage bill: if you go over, Vercel says you usually "have to wait until 30 days have passed" before you can use that feature again.
The catch is the licence. Vercel's fair use guidelines say "Hobby teams are restricted to non-commercial personal use only". Commercial use includes "receiving payment to create, update, or host the site", selling a product or service, taking payments and showing ads. A paid client site needs Pro: $20 a month with one deploying seat and $20 of usage credit included, extra developer seats at $20 a month each and unlimited free Viewer seats (Vercel pricing, Pro plan docs).
Pros
- The best fit for Next.js and other frameworks that need server rendering or functions.
- Web Analytics is included: 50,000 events a month on Hobby. The optional $10-a-month Web Analytics Plus add-on on Pro adds UTM reporting and a longer data window (analytics pricing).
- Vercel Drop deploys a ZIP you drag into the browser, with no Git or CLI.
Cons
- Hobby can't host paid client work, ad-supported sites or anything that sells.
- No built-in forms product.
- Password Protection is a $20-a-month add-on per protected project on Pro (included on Enterprise, not available on Hobby). Hobby offers Vercel Authentication and shareable links instead.
Best for: Next.js apps that need server-side rendering. If that's your project, use Vercel, and budget for Pro if the site is commercial.
Can GitHub Pages replace Netlify?
For personal and open-source sites, yes. For client or business sites, no. GitHub Pages is free in public repositories on GitHub Free. Private repositories need GitHub Pro, Team or Enterprise (What is GitHub Pages). As of October 2026, published sites can be up to 1 GB, with a soft bandwidth limit of 100 GB a month and a soft limit of 10 builds an hour that doesn't apply to custom GitHub Actions workflows (GitHub Pages limits). HTTPS is supported, including on custom domains (HTTPS docs).
The same limits page says GitHub Pages "is not intended for or allowed to be used as a free web-hosting service to run your online business". That rules it out for most client and commercial work.
Pros
- Free, and it deploys straight from a repository you already have.
- Free HTTPS on custom domains.
- You can build and publish with a custom GitHub Actions workflow, so you are not tied to the default Jekyll build.
Cons
- Not allowed for running an online business.
- No forms, analytics or password protection. A private site needs GitHub Enterprise Cloud.
- On the free plan the repository must be public, so your source code is visible.
Best for: documentation, open-source project sites and personal portfolios.
Is Render a good Netlify alternative?
Yes if your static site sits next to a backend on Render; less so for a busy site on the free plan. Render's static sites are "free to deploy", but they count toward your workspace's bandwidth and pipeline minutes (Render static sites). As of October 2026 the Hobby workspace costs $0 a month plus compute. It includes 5 GB of bandwidth a month (then $0.15 per GB), 500 build pipeline minutes, and two custom domains with automatic TLS (then $0.25 per domain a month) (Render pricing). Without a payment method, going over means Render "spins down your workspace's services until the start of the next month" (outbound bandwidth). Pro is $25 a month plus compute, with 25 GB of bandwidth.
Pros
- Web services, Postgres, background workers and cron jobs live in the same dashboard as your static front end.
- Redirect and rewrite rules (set in the dashboard), custom response headers and pull-request preview sites are supported.
- A flat $0.15 per GB once you add a card, instead of a credit conversion.
Cons
- 5 GB of included bandwidth on Hobby is small for a busy marketing site.
- The pricing page lists no forms, visitor analytics or password protection for static sites.
- No client-branded portal.
Best for: a static front end whose API or database also runs on Render.
Is Statpio a good Netlify alternative?
Yes, if you host static sites for clients and want flat prices, built-in forms and a branded hand-off. No, if your site needs server code. Statpio only hosts static output (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). Node servers, server-side rendering, API routes and functions don't run, so a Next.js site needs output: 'export'. Bandwidth is listed as "unmetered" on every plan, and deploys aren't charged one by one: plans allow 25, 200 or 1,000 deployments a day.
- Free Forever ($0): 1 project on a free
*.onstatpio.comsubdomain with SSL, ZIP upload, password protection, a waitlist widget, basic analytics, up to 250 form submissions a month and 250 MB of storage. Sites show a Statpio badge, and there are no custom domains or GitHub deploys. - Solo Pro ($9 a month or $89 a year): 10 projects, 10 custom domains, GitHub push-to-deploy, full analytics (adds UTM campaigns, devices and real-time visitors), 10,000 submissions a month and no badge.
- Agency Pro ($49 a month or $399 a year): 100 projects, 100 custom domains, 100,000 submissions a month and a white-label client portal with up to 50 client seats.
Forms work without code. Any standard HTML <form method="POST"> without an action attribute (or with one that points to the same site) is captured, protected by a visible Cloudflare Turnstile widget and a hidden honeypot that Statpio adds itself, and saved in your dashboard, file uploads included. Analytics come from a lightweight (~1.6 KB) first-party script that Statpio adds to every page. It sets no cookies and uses no third-party trackers, but it stores an anonymous visitor ID in localStorage, ad blockers can block it, and you should check whether your jurisdiction requires visitor consent.
On Agency Pro, clients log in to a portal with your logo, colors, support email and your own portal domain, such as portal.agency.com. They can see forms, leads, analytics and change requests, but not code, DNS or billing. Our guide to white-label hosting for agency clients covers that setup in detail.
Pros
- Flat monthly prices: bandwidth is unmetered and deploys aren't billed individually.
- Password protection on every plan, including Free Forever.
- Forms and cookieless analytics built in, plus a white-label client portal on Agency Pro.
Cons
- Static only: no functions, server-side rendering or API routes, and no per-branch preview URLs.
- New submissions trigger browser and mobile-app push notifications only, with no email alerts, and submissions are capped per plan rather than unlimited.
- The free plan has 1 project, no custom domain and a badge, so a real client site needs Solo Pro or higher.
- Netlify's
_redirects,_headersandnetlify.tomlfiles aren't read, and there's no canonical-tag setting, so keep canonical tags in your HTML.
Best for: freelancers and agencies hosting static client sites, landing pages and AI-built sites who want to hand clients a branded portal.

Which Netlify alternative should you pick?
- Stay on Netlify if you use Functions, Edge Functions or Identity, rely on unlimited form submissions with email or Slack alerts, or your deploys and traffic fit inside your credits. If the Free plan's pause is your only problem, Personal at $9 a month with 1,000 credits is the smallest change.
- Choose Cloudflare Pages for the most traffic at $0, if you can handle forms yourself.
- Choose Vercel for Next.js with server rendering, on Pro for any commercial site.
- Choose GitHub Pages for open-source docs and personal sites in a public repository.
- Choose Render when your front end sits beside a Render backend or database.
- Choose Statpio for static client sites where you want flat pricing, password-protected previews, built-in forms and a branded client portal.
How do I move a static site off Netlify without breaking it?
Most breakage comes from Netlify-specific features, not from your HTML. Work through this list before you change DNS:
- List what only works on Netlify. Look for
_redirects,_headers,[[redirects]]or[[headers]]blocks innetlify.toml, Functions, Edge Functions, Identity, form notifications and build environment variables. Anything that runs code needs a host that runs code, such as Cloudflare, Vercel or Render. GitHub Pages and Statpio serve static files only. - Build locally. Run your build and check that the output folder (often
dist/,build/orout/) works on its own. That folder is what you upload or deploy. - Re-create your redirects. Cloudflare Pages reads a
_redirectsfile, and Render has redirect and rewrite rules in its dashboard. On Statpio, turn on SPA mode for client-side routers (it servesindex.htmlfor app routes, so a page refresh doesn't 404) and include a404.html. Other redirect rules aren't supported. - Move your forms. Netlify Forms only work on Netlify, because Netlify finds your forms by parsing your HTML when the build completes. On Statpio, keep
method="POST"and remove the form'sactionattribute, anyfetch()submit handler, and thenetlify-honeypotattribute with its hidden field, since Statpio adds its own spam protection. On the other hosts you'll need a Function or a form service; our comparison of Formspree alternatives covers the options. - Connect your domain. On Statpio (Solo Pro and up), add the domain in the dashboard and create two DNS records: a CNAME for
wwwpointing tocname.onstatpio.com, and a CNAME for_acme-challenge.wwwpointing to the validation value shown in the dashboard. SSL is issued automatically once the validation record is found. Then forward the root domain (example.com) towwwat your registrar. - Switch DNS carefully. Changing the
wwwrecord moves traffic off Netlify, so do it at a quiet time and keep the Netlify site live until the new one loads over HTTPS. If your domain uses Netlify DNS as its nameservers, make the changes there, or move DNS to your registrar, before you delete anything on Netlify. - Test, then cancel. Submit a test form, open a few old URLs, check that pageviews appear in your analytics, and only then delete the Netlify site.
Ready to try a Netlify alternative?
If your sites are static and you want flat pricing, password-protected client previews and built-in forms, you can start on Statpio's free plan with 1 project, or compare Statpio plans if you need custom domains or a client portal. If you need server code, choose Vercel, Cloudflare or Render instead, or stay on Netlify.
Try Statpio for your next static site
Host it with built-in form capture, cookieless analytics and password protection. The Free Forever plan costs nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Is Netlify still free in 2026?
Yes. As of October 2026, Netlify Free costs $0 and includes 300 credits a month as a hard limit. A production deploy uses 15 credits and bandwidth uses 20 credits per GB. When the credits are used up, every site on the account is paused and shows a "Site not available" page. Free accounts can't buy extra credits; Personal ($9 a month, 1,000 credits) and Pro ($20 a month, 3,000 credits) can.
What is the best free Netlify alternative for client sites?
There's no perfect free option for paid client work. Vercel's Hobby plan is for non-commercial personal use only, and GitHub Pages isn't allowed to be used to run an online business. Cloudflare Pages is free with unlimited static requests but has no built-in forms. Statpio's Free Forever plan includes forms and password protection but only 1 project and no custom domain, so a client site realistically needs Solo Pro at $9 a month.
Can I keep using Netlify Forms after moving my site?
No. Netlify finds your forms by parsing your HTML when your site builds on Netlify, so Netlify Forms only work for sites Netlify hosts. On Statpio, a standard HTML form with method="POST" and no action attribute is captured automatically; remove any custom fetch() submit handler and the Netlify honeypot attribute and hidden field. On Cloudflare Pages, Vercel, GitHub Pages or Render, you need your own function or a third-party form service.
Does Statpio support Netlify's _redirects and netlify.toml files?
No. Statpio doesn't read _redirects, _headers or netlify.toml. It has an SPA mode that serves index.html for client-side routes, and it serves your own 404.html for missing pages. If you depend on many redirect or header rules, Cloudflare Pages (which reads a _redirects file) or Render (redirect rules in its dashboard) is the easier move.
Which Netlify alternative includes password protection on the free plan?
Statpio includes site password protection on every plan, including Free Forever. On Netlify, password protection is Pro only ($20 a month). As of October 2026, Vercel charges $20 a month per protected project on Pro (Hobby offers Vercel Authentication, a login check, rather than a site password), and Cloudflare Pages' built-in access policy covers preview deployments only.
