5 Vercel Alternatives for Static Sites in 2026

The main Vercel alternatives for static sites in 2026 are Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Pages, Render and Statpio. A common reason to look is that Vercel's free Hobby plan is for non-commercial personal use only, so paid client or business sites need Pro at $20 a month per deploying seat. Pick Cloudflare Pages for free high-traffic hosting, Netlify for built-in forms and unlimited team members, GitHub Pages for open-source docs, Render if you also run backends, and Statpio for client sites with forms, analytics and a white-label portal; stay on Vercel for Next.js apps that need a server.
Disclosure: this guide is published by Statpio, one of the tools compared. We link every competitor fact to its official source. All prices and limits below were checked on each vendor's official pages as of October 2026.
An earlier version of this article warned about Vercel "bandwidth traps" and $20 seat fees for reviewers. Neither holds for new Vercel Pro teams today, so we rewrote it around the reasons that still do.
Can I use Vercel's free Hobby plan for client sites?
No. Vercel's Fair Use Guidelines (as of October 2026) are explicit:
"Hobby teams are restricted to non-commercial personal use only. All commercial usage of the platform requires either a Pro or Enterprise plan."
Commercial use covers any deployment made "for the purpose of financial gain of anyone involved in any part of the production of the project, including a paid employee or consultant writing the code." Vercel's examples include being paid to create, update or host the site, advertising a product or service, taking payments, affiliate-focused sites and ads such as Google AdSense. Asking for donations doesn't count.
So if a client pays you, or the site sells or promotes anything (your own freelance services included), Hobby is off the table. A personal blog or open-source demo without ads is fine.
What does Vercel Pro cost for a static site in 2026?
As of October 2026, Vercel Pro is a $20/month platform fee that includes one deploying seat and $20 of monthly usage credit. Each extra seat that can deploy (Owner or Member role) is $20/month. Viewer seats are free and unlimited: viewers can see deployments and analytics and comment on previews, but they can't configure or deploy projects.
Bandwidth is no longer the risk it was. In September 2026 Vercel turned on Flat Rate CDN for all new Pro teams (existing teams can opt in). Per the Flat Rate CDN docs, Pro includes 1 million CDN requests and 1 TB of data transfer a month at no extra cost. A one-day spike doesn't change the bill; if a whole month goes over, Vercel moves you to a higher tier (from $20/month) at the next cycle. Hobby is never billed: go over its limits (such as 100 GB of Fast Data Transfer a month) and you usually wait 30 days.
Still billed by usage on Pro once the credit is spent: functions, Fast Origin Transfer and image optimization. Add-ons cost extra, such as Password Protection at $20 per project per month. A plain static site touches few of these meters.
Why do people look for Vercel alternatives for static sites?
- Client or commercial work on a free plan. Hobby rules it out, so even a small paid landing page needs Pro.
- Per-seat cost for small teams. Three developers who all deploy cost $60/month on Pro before any usage. Netlify Pro, Cloudflare Pages and Render Pro don't charge per member.
- Forms and analytics in one place. Vercel includes Web Analytics, but it has no built-in form handling, so a contact form needs a function or a separate form service.
- Client handover. Viewer seats are free, but clients log in to Vercel's own dashboard. There is no portal under your agency's brand that shows a client their leads.
- Password-protected client previews. On Vercel Pro, password protection is a $20/month add-on per project.
If none of these apply and you build with Next.js server features, Vercel is probably still the right home.
Which Vercel alternatives are worth considering?
How the five alternatives compare with Vercel on the points that drive the switch:
| Platform | Free plan | Commercial use on free? | Paid entry price | Seats | Built-in forms | Analytics | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel (baseline) | Hobby: pauses at limits (e.g. 100 GB Fast Data Transfer/mo) | No: non-commercial personal use only | Pro $20/mo (1 deploying seat, $20 usage credit) | $20/mo per extra deploying seat; Viewer seats free | None | Web Analytics: 50,000 events/mo on Hobby; Pro $0.03 per 1K events; UTM needs the $10/mo Plus add-on | Next.js and server-rendered apps |
| Netlify | $0, 300 credits/mo; projects pause when credits run out | No non-commercial rule in its subscription agreement; no SLA on free | Personal $9/mo; Pro $20/mo | Pro: unlimited members | Yes, free and unlimited on credit plans | Included: 1 day of data on Free and Personal, 30 days on Pro | Static sites that need forms and some functions |
| Cloudflare Pages | Static asset requests free and unlimited; 500 builds/mo | No non-commercial rule in the Pages docs | Workers Paid from $5/mo per account (for Functions and Workers usage) | Unlimited users | None; write a Pages Function | Cloudflare Web Analytics: free, no cookies or localStorage | High-traffic sites on a zero budget |
| GitHub Pages | Free for public repositories; 1 GB site, soft 100 GB/mo bandwidth | No: not allowed for running an online business or e-commerce site | Private repositories need GitHub Pro, Team or Enterprise | Repository collaborators | None | None | Docs and open-source project sites |
| Render | Hobby $0 + compute: 5 GB bandwidth/mo, then $0.15/GB; 2 custom domains | No rule stated on its pricing page | Pro $25/mo + compute | Hobby 1 seat; Pro unlimited | None | No visitor analytics listed (service metrics and logs only) | Static frontends next to APIs and databases |
| Statpio | Free Forever: 1 project on *.onstatpio.com with a Statpio badge; no custom domain | No non-commercial rule in its terms, but no custom domain on free | Solo Pro $9/mo; Agency Pro $49/mo | No per-seat fees; collaborator seats on Agency Pro only (up to 50) | Yes: 250 / 10,000 / 100,000 submissions/mo by plan | Built in, cookieless (~1.6 KB script); full analytics on Solo Pro and up | Freelancers and agencies hosting client static sites |

Netlify
Netlify is the closest like-for-like swap for a Vercel user, with built-in forms on top. As of October 2026 its credit-based plans are Free ($0, 300 credits a month), Personal ($9/month, 1,000 credits) and Pro ($20/month, 3,000 credits, with unlimited members). Free includes custom domains with SSL. Form submissions are free and unlimited on all credit plans, and web analytics is included on every credit plan.
Watch the credits: bandwidth uses 20 credits per GB, and when a Free account runs out, all its projects are paused. Password protection is Pro only. Netlify's subscription agreement sets no non-commercial rule, but free projects have "no service level commitments," and there's no white-label client view. More detail in our guide to Netlify alternatives.
Cloudflare Pages (and Workers)
Cloudflare is the strongest free option for traffic. As of October 2026, requests to static assets are free and unlimited on free and paid plans. The Free plan includes 500 builds a month (one at a time), 20,000 files per site, 25 MiB per file, 100 custom domains per project and "an unlimited number of users." Cloudflare Web Analytics is free and uses no cookies or localStorage.
The catches: there's no forms product, so a contact form means writing a Pages Function (billed as Workers requests; Workers Paid starts at $5 a month per account). Cloudflare's Pages docs now say "Start new projects with Workers," so a new site may be better set up as a Worker with static assets. Sites are managed in Cloudflare's own dashboard; no white-label option is documented.
GitHub Pages
GitHub Pages is free and simple if your code is on GitHub, but only for public repositories on GitHub Free; private repositories need GitHub Pro, Team or Enterprise. More important if you're leaving Vercel over commercial limits, GitHub's usage limits say Pages "is not intended for or allowed to be used as a free web-hosting service to run your online business, e-commerce site," or other mainly commercial sites. Sites can be up to 1 GB, with soft limits of 100 GB of bandwidth a month and 10 builds an hour. GitHub documents no forms, analytics or preview deployments for Pages.
Render
Render fits when the static site sits next to a backend: one workspace can run web services, background workers, cron jobs and Postgres. As of October 2026, static sites are "always free to deploy," but their traffic counts toward workspace bandwidth. The free Hobby workspace includes 5 GB a month (then $0.15 per GB), 2 custom domains (then $0.25 each a month) and 1 seat. Pro is $25/month plus compute, with 25 GB and unlimited seats. Render lists no forms or visitor analytics, only service metrics and logs.
Statpio
Statpio hosts static sites only (built HTML, CSS and JavaScript), with form capture and analytics built in and, on Agency Pro, a white-label client portal. Bandwidth is unmetered on every plan.
- Free Forever: 1 project on a free *.onstatpio.com subdomain with SSL, ZIP upload, password protection, a waitlist widget, basic analytics and 250 form submissions a month. It shows a Statpio badge and has no custom domain or GitHub deploys, so it suits testing a site more than handing one to a client.
- Solo Pro ($9/month or $89/year): 10 projects, 10 custom domains, GitHub push-to-deploy, full analytics (adds UTM campaigns, devices and real-time visitors), 10,000 form submissions a month and no badge.
- Agency Pro ($49/month or $399/year): 100 projects, 100 custom domains, 100,000 submissions a month and a white-label client portal with your logo, colors, support email and portal domain, for up to 50 client seats. Clients see their forms, leads, analytics and change requests, but can't touch code, DNS or billing.
Forms need no setup: any standard HTML <form method="POST"> without an action attribute is captured (GET forms are left alone), with a visible Cloudflare Turnstile check against spam. Analytics is a ~1.6 KB first-party script with no cookies; it stores an anonymous visitor ID in localStorage, so check whether your jurisdiction requires visitor consent.
Where Statpio is the wrong choice: it runs no server code (no SSR, API routes or server actions), has no redirect or custom-header rules, sends new-lead alerts as browser and mobile push only (no email), and serves a root domain through www. The full limits are on the pricing page.

Which should you pick?
- You build Next.js apps with SSR, ISR, server actions or middleware: stay on Vercel Pro. Static-only hosts such as Statpio and GitHub Pages can't run those features.
- A personal, non-commercial project: Vercel Hobby is fine. Cloudflare Pages and GitHub Pages (public repository) are free too.
- A small team of developers on one product: Netlify Pro ($20/month, unlimited members) or Cloudflare (unlimited users) avoids per-seat costs.
- A high-traffic static site with no budget: Cloudflare Pages, or a Worker with static assets.
- Open-source documentation: GitHub Pages.
- A static frontend plus an API or database: Render, so everything lives in one workspace.
- A freelancer hosting a few paid client sites with contact forms: Netlify (forms free and unlimited, but watch the credits) or Statpio Solo Pro (custom domains, forms and analytics at one flat price).
- An agency handing sites and leads over to clients: Statpio Agency Pro. None of the other platforms here documents a client portal under your own brand.
How do I move a static site off Vercel?
Before you switch: what won't carry over
- Next.js server features. A static host needs
output: 'export', which builds the site into anoutfolder. The Next.js static export docs list what isn't supported, including Server Actions, ISR, Proxy (middleware), redirects, rewrites and headers innext.config, Draft Mode, dynamic routes withoutgenerateStaticParams(), and Image Optimization with the default loader. - Images. If you use
next/image, setimages: { unoptimized: true }or use a custom loader. - vercel.json rules. Redirects, rewrites and headers in
vercel.jsondon't move with your files, so list them and recreate them on the new host if it supports rules. Statpio has no rules file: keep existing URLs as real files (it serves/aboutfromabout.htmlorabout/index.html) and add a404.html. - API routes. Route handlers that read the request (anything beyond a static
GETresponse) need a host that runs code (Netlify, Cloudflare, Render) or a third-party service. On Statpio, a contact-form endpoint can usually become a plain HTMLPOSTform.
// next.config.js
module.exports = {
output: 'export',
images: { unoptimized: true },
}
Moving to Statpio, step by step
- Build the site locally. Run your build (for example
npm run build) and find the output folder:outfor a Next.js export, distfor Vite or Astro, withindex.htmlat the top level. - Create a project and deploy. In the Statpio dashboard, drag and drop a ZIP of that folder (any plan), or connect the GitHub repository for push-to-deploy (Solo Pro and up). For a React or Vite app with client-side routing, turn on SPA mode in the project settings so routes don't 404 on refresh.
- Test on the free subdomain. Open the project's *.onstatpio.com address and check pages, assets and forms. For forms, make sure each one uses
method="POST", then remove theactionattribute and any JavaScript submit handler (fetch()withpreventDefault()); it conflicts with Statpio's own handler and breaks the CAPTCHA. - Add your domain (Solo Pro and up). In the project's domain settings, add
www.yourdomain.com. - Create the two DNS records at your registrar. A CNAME for
wwwpointing tocname.onstatpio.com, and a CNAME for_acme-challenge.wwwpointing to the validation value shown in the dashboard (it looks likewww.yourdomain.com.<id>.dcv.cloudflare.com). The newwwwrecord replaces the old Vercel one; Vercel gives each project its own CNAME target, such asd1d4fc829fe7bc7c.vercel-dns-017.com(Vercel domain docs). - Forward the root domain to www. Statpio serves a root domain through
www, so remove the Vercel A record for the apex (usually 76.76.21.21, or the value on your Vercel domain card) and forwardyourdomain.comtohttps://www.yourdomain.comat your registrar. The dashboard shows how for common registrars. - Wait for SSL, then retire the Vercel project. The certificate is issued automatically once the validation record is found. Leave the
_acme-challengerecord in place afterwards, because it's used for automatic renewals (Cloudflare delegated DCV docs). Delete the Vercel project only once the new site loads on your domain.
DNS changes can take a while to spread, so switch at a quiet time and keep the Vercel deployment live until the new records work.
What should you do next?
If your site is static and you host it for clients, you can try Statpio before moving any DNS: create a free account, upload your build as a ZIP and check it on the free subdomain. If you rely on Next.js server features, staying on Vercel Pro is the simpler choice, and if you need lots of free traffic with no forms, Cloudflare Pages is hard to beat.
Try Statpio for your next static site
Host it with built-in form capture, cookieless analytics and password protection. The Free Forever plan costs nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Vercel's free Hobby plan for a client website?
No. Vercel's Fair Use Guidelines restrict Hobby teams to non-commercial personal use only. Being paid to create, update or host a site, advertising a product or service, taking payments, affiliate-focused sites and ads all count as commercial use. Commercial sites need Vercel Pro ($20/month per deploying seat as of October 2026) or Enterprise. Asking for donations is not commercial use.
Does Vercel still charge for bandwidth overages?
Much less than before. Since September 2026 new Pro teams have Flat Rate CDN by default: Pro includes 1 million CDN requests and 1 TB of data transfer a month, and a one-day spike doesn't change the bill. If a whole month goes over, Vercel moves the team to a higher tier (from $20/month) at the next cycle. Functions, Fast Origin Transfer and image optimization are still billed by usage, and add-ons such as Password Protection cost extra. Hobby is never billed; it pauses at its limits.
Which Vercel alternative can I use for free for a commercial static site?
Netlify and Cloudflare Pages publish no non-commercial rule for their free plans. Netlify Free pauses your projects when its 300 monthly credits run out, while Cloudflare Pages serves static requests free and unlimited. GitHub Pages is not allowed for running an online business or e-commerce site. Statpio's Free Forever plan has no non-commercial rule either, but it has no custom domain and shows a Statpio badge, so a real client site usually needs Solo Pro at $9/month.
How do I host a v0 website without Vercel?
If the project is a Next.js app, set output: 'export' in next.config.js (and images: { unoptimized: true } if it uses next/image), run the build, and deploy the out folder to a static host such as Statpio, Netlify or Cloudflare Pages. Static export doesn't support Server Actions, ISR, middleware or API routes that read the request, so a project that depends on them needs a host that runs Next.js on a server, such as Vercel Pro.
Will my vercel.json redirects and headers work on another host?
No. Rules in vercel.json stay on Vercel, so list them before you move and recreate them on the new host if it supports rules. Statpio has no redirect or custom-header rules: keep your URLs as real files (it serves /about from about.html or about/index.html), add a 404.html for missing pages, and forward the root domain to www at your registrar.
Does Statpio support Next.js?
Only as a static export. Statpio hosts built HTML, CSS and JavaScript and runs no server code, so SSR, API routes and server actions won't work. Set output: 'export', upload the out folder as a ZIP on any plan, or connect GitHub for push-to-deploy on Solo Pro and up. For server-rendered Next.js apps, Vercel is the better fit.
