Start a website from a template
Pick one of the six templates on the templates page, press Use this template, and the site is live with demo content within seconds. Then open Site content under the website, replace the texts and photos with yours, and publish.
Step 1: Pick a template
Open the templates page. Each card shows the template on a laptop screen; See the page opens its page with a live preview, what is on the page and which form it carries, and Live preview opens the demo site on its own.
Six to start with: portfolio, restaurant, trades, personal, agency and event. Each comes with the form that kind of site needs (contact, appointment request, quote request or RSVP) and the structured data search engines expect from it.
Step 2: Use it
Press Use this template. If you are not signed in yet, you sign up first (free). The website is created in your account with the template’s demo content and published, so it is live at your-name.onstatpio.com within seconds, form included.
If your plan is at its number of websites, the page offers to apply the template to one of your existing websites instead. Its live files are replaced; the previous version stays in Deployments, so you can roll back.
Step 3: Make it yours
You land on Site content, the website’s editor for template sites: the sections on the left (name and headline, services or menu, about, reviews, questions, contact details, form, colours and photos), the page on the right. Every change is saved as a draft a moment after you type, and the preview updates.
Photos: Upload replaces a demo photo with yours (JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF, up to 10 MB) and asks for a short description, the alt text. Lists such as dishes or projects have Add, arrows to reorder and a bin to remove.
Step 4: Publish
Press Publish when the preview looks right. The draft becomes a new deployment, the same as any other publish: it appears under Deployments, and the live site changes within a few seconds. Publish as often as you like.
The page says whether everything is published or the draft has changes the live site does not have yet.
Step 5: Switch the template or go your own way
The template menu at the top of Site content switches to another template and keeps your content; sections the new template does not have are hidden, not lost. Nothing changes on the live site until you publish.
The files are plain HTML and CSS in your account: download them from the template page, ask Claude or ChatGPT to change them through the AI connector, or upload your own files, after which Site content offers to start from a template again.
